How do you define “independent living?” You’ll find great answers on our serene Whiting, NJ campus.
Some days, you’ll just want to kick back with a book in our library or refresh your spirit in the sanctuary of our park-like grounds. With all the available activities, you might occasionally need a respite. Whether it’s one of the many trips to New Jersey museums or Atlantic City, a lecture on America’s great First Ladies from a Rutgers professor, Bible study in our lovely Chapel, woodworking, shopping, volunteering, line dancing, “Happy Hours,” writing and poetry groups, live musical entertainment (the performers tell us the residents entertain them!)… You get the idea: There’s a lot of choices. Just look at our calendar. It’s all part of independent living. And did we mention our aquatic/fitness center, staffed with certified life guards and professional trainers?
Folks here even like to create their own fun, doing things like starting a weekly card game program or a Wii bowling tournament. However they are inspired, activities and programs all flow from LivWell, a program designed to discover your interests, strengths and passions, and to help you pursue them in the name of wellness and well-being. Having plenty of choices to do—or not do—whatever makes you happy. Having it all right where you live. It’s not just common sense, it’s rare variety.

“There’s a pool if I want to swim laps; Rosie even has her own garden plot that she filled with flowers last summer. It’s an easier life too. Crestwood Manor takes care of everything — cooking, cleaning, maintenance — we love it.”
